Police were called after a naked man was spotted in Abbey Wood.

The man was allegedly seen walking through the woods at Lesnes Abbey on September 19.

This incident was reported to police but no one was found in the area.

The man was reportedly spotted again on Monday (September 24), but police had no record of being called this time and no arrests have been made.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 14:25hrs on Wednesday, 19 September to reports of a naked man in Lesnes Park, SE2.

"Officers attended and searched the area but there was no trace of the man."

Technically, it is not illegal to be naked in public in England and Wales, but it is an offence to strip off in a bid to cause harm and shock to another person.

However, the person has to prove they have been harmed by the act in order to pursue a conviction.

Advice from the Crown Prosecution Service says: "A balance needs to be struck between the naturist's right to freedom of expression and the right of the wider public to be protected from harassment, alarm and distress."
