PROPOSED INTRODUCTION OF A RESIDENTS VISITORS PERMIT AND CHANGES TO THE ALLOCATION OF RESIDENTS VISITORS 'SCRATCHCARD' PERMITS IN THE CROYDON CONTROLLED PARKING ZONE, CENTRAL SUB-ZONE, CROYDON.

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Croydon Council propose to make a Traffic Order under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended by the Local Government Act, 1985 and the Road Traffic Act 1991.

2. The general effect of the Croydon (Central) (Parking Places) (No. 1) Order 2003 (Amendment No. 1) Order 2007 would be:-
(a) to introduce a new residents visitors parking permit so that it would be in operation between the hours 6pm to midnight on Mondays to Saturdays inclusive and between 8am and midnight on Sundays, one residents visitors parking permit allowed per household at a cost of £10 per permit per annum;
(b) to reduce the allocation of resident's visitors 'scratch card' permits to individual householders to 30 permits per annum which would apply between the hours of 8am and midnight throughout the week at a cost of £2.80 per day.

3. The Central Controlled Parking Zone is an area approximately bounded by the streets specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

4. A copy of the proposed Order, of the Council's statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order, and of a map which indicates the lengths of roads to which the proposed Order relates can be inspected until the last day of a period of six weeks beginning with the date on which the Order is made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Order, during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at the Enquiry Counter, "One Stop" Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey.

6. Persons desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Order Making Section, Parking Services, Environment, Culture and Public Protection Department, 1st Floor, Davis House, Robert Street, Croydon, CR0 1QQ quoting the reference ECPP/PS/JAA/7/K43 by 28 November 2007.

7. The proposed Order is intended to provide an annual residents visitors permit in the Central Sub-Zone which would operate during the evenings and on Sundays with one being allowed per household at a nominal fee of £10 per permit per annum. The visitor permit would be interchangeable between visitors.

The existing residents visitors 'scratch card' permit would be available in the same numbers and cost as the other Croydon sub-zones, up to 30 permits per annum at a cost of £2.80 daily per permit. The Central sub-zone is the only zone that operates during the evening throughout the week and on Sundays and this additional permit would aid residents visitors who wish to visit at these times.
