Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has hinted that he hopes to play a more expansive style next season.

The Eagles have been playing a 4-3-3 formation for much of Warnock's reign as boss, but on Friday he expressed his admiration for a fluent and creative 4-4-2 style.

He said: "I don't necessarily want to play the way I am playing next season but I think you have play to suit the squad you've got to get the points to make sure we are not at the other end of the table.

"But next season is a different ball game. I enjoy 4-4-2, crosses and tackles, and although we can tackle at 4-3-3 there's not the fluency or creativity because there's not as many gaps.

"It serves a purpose at the moment, but I would hope that we could sign enough players to be able to change systems in the summer."
