Musical fans have a brand new show to get excited for as the hit stage musical based on Mean Girls is coming to London's West End in 2024.

Based on the 2004 film of the same name, the arrival of the musical will coincide with the 20th anniversary of its release.

Mean Girls starred Lindsay Lohan as outsider Cady Heron who was raised in Africa but is in for a culture shock when she arrives at an American high school where she must navigate the world of The Plastics – the girls who rule the school.

The 2004 film was written by Tina Fey and starred big names including Rachel McAdams as leader Regina George, while Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert played her acolytes Karen and Gretchen.

Now, made into a musical, it's finally coming to London's West End next year.

Mean Girls musical is coming to London's West End

The Mean Girls musical has already been a hit on Broadway, where it opened in 2018 and has since embarked on two national tours across the USA.

Now, the team behind Mean Girls confirmed the news on October 3, known as Mean Girls Day in reference to a scene in the film in which Cady is asked what day it is by the boy she has a crush on.

Each year on October 3, fans of the film often celebrate the day by sharing throwback photos.

Mean Girls the musical is written again by Fey alongside composer Jeff Richmond, lyricist Nell Benjamin and director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw.
