A south London pub has reopened after a six-figure refurbishment, designed to “enhance” the pub while “retaining the traditional look and feel”.

The Junction pub, formally known as Windsor Castle, has reopened following a significant six-figure investment, designed to enhance the popular site while retaining the traditional look and feel.

The Junction, formerly known as Windsor Castle, is located adjacent to Clapham Junction on St John’s Hill.

The pub closed several weeks ago for a full refurbishment to both the interior and exterior and reopened last Friday (December 1).

Inside, the traditional 1920s pub has been completely redecorated with a fresh new navy colour scheme throughout, as well as new furniture and sofas that offer guests a “warm and cosy spot to enjoy a drink or meal”.

There is also new lighting and artwork and the bar has been reconfigured with a new setup to allow for a wider selection of beers.

The Junction claims to have “one of the only outside areas in the Clapham area” with its beer garden named Platform 18.

Since the refurb, it now has an updated layout and new furniture.

The “well-loved, popular murals” featuring Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, and Lemmy Kilmister have been retained for locals and visitors to continue to enjoy.

Following its reopening, the pub will continue to host its weekly quiz nights and live music events on Saturdays as well as show major sporting events from Sky and TNT on the brand-new 76 inch TV that replaces the previous projector.

The pub opens with a brand-new festive menu, featuring small plates of Maple Glazed Pigs in Blankets and Turkey Pops alongside the classic Turkey Dinner, whilst boasting an extensive drinks menu with signature Christmas cocktails including Spiced Brambles, plus an improved selection of craft ale on tap and premium bottled beers.

This investment sees The Junction expanding its current team, and recruitment is still underway for various roles including front of house.

Those looking to apply can do so on their website.

Marta Matyjewicz, General Manager of The Junction, said: “We are really excited to reveal The Junction’s brand-new look to our guests.

“The pub has retained its traditional feel whilst being revitalised with new furniture and a new colour scheme.

“The Junction is home to a friendly staff team and we’re looking forward to welcoming back regulars and new guests to our new pub.”
