Are you looking forward to Christmas or dreading it? Weybridge-based thought field therapist Gill Harvey-Bush from ITV1’s Kyle’s Academy has the following tips: Ÿ Relationships - getting on at Christmas The answer may be to arrange for the children to spend some time alone with their grandparents over the Christmas period so that you have time to rediscover each other. If that’s not possible, then divide the household chores so that you don’t feel you’re doing everything.
Ÿ Handling debt at Christmas Even with the credit crunch, there is a tendency to give children everything they demand at Christmas. We need to be strong enough to say no and negotiate with kids that all the toys will be cheaper in the January sales. Write down everything you spend in a small notebook. By keeping a record you raise your awareness of how much you are spending on each child/person. Previous spending habits will change when you suddenly realise how much you’re spending on them by recording it in your notebook. Agree with family and friends a set amount e.g. £5 or £10, to spend on each other or the whole family.
Have a great Christmas!
