I feel that children in the Sutton community do not get enough opportunity to take part in clubs within the local community. Children continue to get bullied at school and outside of school. But what can we do about it as a community? I believe if we get the children involved in more clubs with children coming together from different schools on a weekly basis, and meeting and making new friends, there is more of a chance of them communicating with others, rather than with people that could be bullying them at school. There could be a range of activities to do, including drama, dance and music based activities. If they are not a very confident person, they could just simply go to a weekly class to meet and discuss any issues they are having, as it is always better to let your feelings out. Amelia Townend who is a Glenthorne pupil said “There are many clubs in the local community, but unfortunately, children are not aware of them”. This evidence shows that children are unaware of the activities on offer. I have asked five year 9 pupils from Glenthorne what they feel about activities in the community. Four of them said that they think it is a good idea. The people, who didn’t, said it was because they don’t want to do the journey, or they felt the activities would be on too late for them. But for the children to be able to make their own decisions and choose what activity they do, wouldn’t this make the community a better place?
