Two teenage girls had to be rescued by fire services after being stuck up a tree in Lloyd Park for over four hours on Monday.

The crew from Croydon Fire station helped the “tomboys” down after the girls called for help on their mobiles.

They climbed the tree at about 3pm and then realised they could not get down.

A spokesman said: “There were two young ladies up a tree in Lloyd Park, they were rescued by hunky able-bodied firemen.

“They were about 15. They were having a tomboy climb, got a bit scared and realised they could not get down again.”

They were rescued at about 7.30pm.
