Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has challenged Nick Carle to force his way into the first team after rumours emerged linking the Australian with South Korean club FC Seoul.

Warnock dismissed the speculation but did reveal Carle is likely to start on the bench when the season kicks off against Plymouth Argyle in 10 days time.

"I'm not sure they ever actually bid for him," he said.

"At the moment we are not looking to sell him, he is in our plans.

"He just needs to get himself in the side now."

Palace have sold left-back Rhoys Wiggins though, letting him join Norwich City for an undisclosed fee after making just one Eagles appearance.

Warnock said: "He has had a bit an injury-plagued career with us but Norwich is a good club and it was only right to let him go there where he has an opportunity to get in the first team."

Friday night's 3-0 win over Bristol Rovers and Saturday's 2-0 victory over Sutton United kept up the Eagles unbeaten pre-season and Warnock revealed he is close to knowing his starting team for Plymouth.

"We haven't got that many choices to be honest, it will more or less take care of itself," he said.

"We are still trying to get people in but it's not easy."
