A bride and groom suffered wedding day blues when several cards and gifts were stolen from their reception venue in North Cheam.
Louise Gale and her husband Simon, both Orchard Hill College lecturers from Carshalton, began their married life together last week.
But their dream day quickly turned into a nightmare with the theft of about a dozen cards, containing vouchers and up to £400 from guests.
Louise, 29, who is registered disabled, said: “We are absolutely heartbroken and it would mean the world to us to be able to read the irreplaceable card messages from our family and friends. Thank you to everybody for looking.”
Her aunt, Julie Caswell, said: “They are a really lovely couple and Louise even spent the day before her wedding with an elderly neighbour who needed an x-ray.
"It is so sad that something like this could happen to them.
“We just wanted to make an appeal for anyone who comes across the dumped cards while they are out walking their dog to get in touch through your newspaper."
The wedding reception was held at the Elmcroft Community Centre in London Road on Friday, August 14.
