Police have launched an appeal for a witness they believe may have vital information about the killing of Ben Gardner on November 1.
Mr Gardner, 30, an insurance broker who worked for Legal & General, in Tadworth, was at a birthday party on Halloween with his girlfriend Allanna Devine, 28, when her costume witch’s hat was allegedly stolen by a group of men.
Two hours later, at about 3.30am, Mr Gardner and Miss Devine allegedly spotted the group in Throwley Street in Sutton.
An altercation ensued which left Mr Gardner lying on the ground unconscious.
He was taken by ambulance to St Helier Hospital suffering from head injuries and he died later that evening about 8pm.
Detective's from the Met's Murder Squad have now released a photo of a man in his early 20s who may have seen what happened that night.
The man is described as white, with short dark hair, he was wearing jeans and a blue checked short-sleeved shirt.
He left Revolutions nightclub at about 3am and is not believed to be involved in the incident but was in the immediate vicinity of it when it took place.
Detective Inspector Bob Campany said: "This man may have information which is important to our investigation and we are eager to talk with him.
"We particularly would like to ask anyone who has any information about Ben's death to come and speak to us."
• Daniel Ransom, of Blake Close, Carshalton, and Ross Collender, of Wigmore Road, Carshalton, appeared at Sutton Magistrates’ Court on November 4 charged with murder.
Both men were remanded in custody to reappear at the Old Bailey on February 10 next year.
