A winter wonderland arrived in Sutton at the start of February when up to a foot of snow fell across the borough.
But the snowfall caused mayhem as traffic chaos hit the roads, schools shut and hospitals turned patients away.
Sutton’s community was in shock after thieves ransacked the home of a World War II hero as he lay dying in a hospital bed.
Veteran soldier, William Whitehead, 86, died of pneumonia two weeks after being found collapsed at his Carshalton home.
The thieves struck as he was receiving treatment at St Helier over Christmas, stealing five war medals.
Police seized a deadly Mac-10 submachine gun during an undercover drugs operation in Mitcham.
The gun, favoured by drug gangs for its devastating firepower, had been used to slay Richard Holmes, 21, four years previously in a row over rap lyrics.
David Sawby, 27, was imprisoned for 7 years for possessing a prohibited weapon.
