Norbury residents opposed to a mental health hostel for convicted offenders lobbied shoppers on Saturday.
The Green Lane Committee is campaigning against South London and Maudsley NHS Trust and Care UK's application to build the 12- bed rehabilitation unit near seven schools in Green Lane.
Worried parents collected 380 signatures outside Tesco in Thornton Heath on Saturday.
The full petition of more than 2,000 signatures will be presented to councillors at the full council meeting on Monday, April 26.
No date has been set for the application to go before the planning commit-tee.
