A supermodel, a football fan and the owner of one of the country's biggest lingerie chains represented Croydon on this year's Sunday Times Rich List.

Ranked at number 79, David Gold and family of Gold Air International were the highest local entry.

The group, based in Whyteleafe, has an estimated worth of £495million.

Best known as the owners of the Ann Summers lingerie chain and Birmingham City Football Club, the group also has a £100million half-share in Sport Newspapers and recently moved into the aviation industry.

Simon Jordan, owner of Crystal Palace Football Club, was ranked joint 950 with an estimated fortune of £40million, having failed to make the list when just £35million was required last year.

The 36-year-old entrepreneur sold his PocketPhone shop chain in 2000 and rescued his hometown club from administration in July 2000.

Also ranked at number 950 were brothers Simon and Paul Upward, owners of Croydon's Ocobase Property Group.

The company, based in Lower Addiscombe Road, is estimated to be worth £36million. The brothers also own other assets.

Supermodel and former Riddlesdown High School pupil Kate Moss was ranked joint 24th in the Times' league of 100 richest young people.

Moss, 30, earned around £9million between 2000 and 2003. She was estimated to have a fortune of £14million taking her up three places on the list.
