Warlingham 8
Old Tiffinians 54
Warlingham's Powergen Surrey League One season ended with a whimper, as they lost to Old Tiffinians 8-54 at Hamsey Green last Saturday.
Warlingham ended the season 15th in Powergen Surrey League One, comfortably clear on points of local rivals Streatham-Croydon, with Reedonians getting relegated.
With nothing but pride to play for, Warlingham suffered a string of late cry-offs and it was not long before their defence was run ragged by the Tiffins Old Boys.
Future generations of Warlingham players fared better at Dorking on Sunday at the Surrey mini-rugby festival.
In appalling conditions, Warlingham's youngest competitive age group, the U7s, claimed the best results.
After group stage wins over London Irish, Farnham and Chipstead, Warlingham went on to beat Guildford in the quarter-final.
They beat Richmond 7-4 after extra-time in a gripping semi-final, with Callum Ward leading the try-scoring stakes.
In the final, they lost 6-2 to Old Reedonians.
Elsewhere, the U11s placed fourth in a tight group, and the U10s enjoyed wins over Cranleigh and Haselmere before a 10-0 defeat to King's College School ended their hopes.
