Two schoolboys can now do their homework on their own computers thanks to Crystal Palace Football Club's study support centre and a local developer.
Kingsley Primary School pupil Darren Baker, 11, and Christopher Sullivan, 13, who attends St Joseph's College, are the first winners of the award for student excellence 2004, for showing most improvement during a 10-week course at the study support centre.
For five years the centre under the club's main stand, has provided free tuition in IT and literacy skills for primary and secondary pupils on a 20-hour course.
The award is part of Stanhope and Schroders' £10,000 sponsorship, which has also paid for a part-time teacher during the day.
Centre manager Christine Myant said: "Everyone needs to have their efforts recognised but for these students it is a dream come true."
