Driving rain and gusty wind did not stop the ladies of Purley Tennis Club opening their National League season with a creditable draw at Sundridge Park, Bromley, last weekend.
Hazel Middleton, Fiona Fenely, Nicola Slim and Helen Gilbert made up the team. Middleton claimed the first set 6-2 against number one player Suzy Russell, but eventually lost the match in three.
