If you have ever dreamt of learning to fly, then here is your chance.

Surrey Hills Gliding Club's annual charity day on Monday, May 3, will give members of the public a chance to sample the sport and support NCH children's charity.

Visitors will be given a briefing and then fly in a two-seater glider accompanied by a qualified instructor.

Peter Poole, chief instructor at the Kenley-based club, said gliding was becoming increasingly popular but many people believed it was expensive.

He said: "We need to get the word spread about a bit more. People think it is really expensive but it is certainly less expensive than golf."

Flights will cost £35, of which £20 will go to NCH.

Sue Lindsey, fundraising manager for NCH, said: "We are very grateful to the club for supporting NCH.

"Gliding is such a fantastic experience, open to both old and young. So come along, it is a fantastic day."

Money raised on the day will support NCH projects helping vulnerable children and young people.

The club, which is based at Kenley aerodrome in Caterham Close, will be open from 9am.
