Youngsters at Carew Manor School were treated to a cricket net earlier this week with members of the England learning disability development squad.

Minister for Sport, Gerry Sutcliffe, was in attendance on Tuesday with current and former pupils including cricketers Jamie Green and Kathryn Briddock who have both represented their countries at the sport.

Martin Midgley, Headteacher of Carew Manor said “We see cricket as a fantastic way of giving our pupils opportunities that they might not otherwise have had and the school is always buzzing about cricket.”

Councillor Tony Brett Young, of Sutton Council, said: “We are grateful to Cricket for Change for providing support to the school which has enabled students to develop their cricket skills and compete on a national level.”

The aim of Cricket for Change is to use the sport to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities.
