An MP’s popularity has sunk since the election making him the second worst Liberal Democrat in Government, according to a party website.

Lib Dem Voice asked its 600 members to rate their colleagues’ performances to date, including all those with cabinet and ministerial positions.

The survey found Sutton and Cheam MP Paul Burstow’s rating had dropped from 10 per cent to 4 per cent.

Lib Dem Voice attributed the fall to the politician’s role in the coalition’s plans to streamline NHS spending.

But the Care Services Minister, who has promoted his title as “London’s hardest working MP” by the Evening Standard in 2005 on his personal website, brushed aside the report.

He said: “My focus is on delivering better results for patients and service users.

“It’s against results, rather than my colleagues, that people will judge in the end.”

According to the survey, the three top ranked Lib Dem MPs were Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg (60 per cent), Business Secretary Vince Cable (60 per cent) and Climate Change Secretary Chris Huhne (59 per cent).

Kingston and Surbiton MP Ed Davey (11 per cent) was the fifth-lowest ranked Lib Dem politician in the survey with Armed Forces Minister Nick Harvey (3 per cent) bringing up the rear.

Liberal Democrat Voice is an independent, collaborative website run by Liberal Democrat activists.

Mr Burstow has been MP for Sutton and Cheam since 1997.
