A much-loved 14-year-old school boy who was found dead in his bedroom is believed to have hanged himself.

Students at Glenthorne High School are mourning the death of Liam Hearne who was found dead on October 7.

Glenthorne headmaster Steve Hume told the Sutton Guardian the school was in a state of shock at the loss of such a popular and much-loved pupil.

Mr Hume said: “The thoughts of everyone at the school are with Liam’s family who are devastated by Liam’s death. The school is overwhelmed by grief and distress at the loss of someone so special, so precious, so loved.

“Teachers and counsellors at the school have been offering emotional support to Liam’s classmates and friends and we would ask for the privacy of his friends and family to be respected at this time.”

Tributes from friends and loved ones have poured into social networking site Facebook describing Liam, who lived in Carshalton, as a “real character” who always smiled and made people laugh.

Liam’s brother, Aaron Hearne, said: “You will live on in the hearts of those you made smile and those who loved you so much. Every day that goes by, everytime I do something worth being proud I dedicate it to you my baby brother.”

Another student Kelly Wooldridge said: “RIP Liam, I know you made such a big impact on so many people and always put on a brave face, you will be greatly missed by many.”

Friend Kirsty O’Flynn Woods said: “Liam, I can’t get my head around it, I still don’t believe your gone. So many good memories with you man, like last summer in Portugal, we had such a laugh.”

A remembrance room has been set up at Glenthorne for students to leave any personal items, possession or memorabilia in Liam’s memory.

Some pupils have created a large ‘G’ for Glenthorne in the schools grounds as a dedication to the teenager.

One parent said a letter regarding Liam death had been circulated to parents on the Friday morning.
