Streatham MP Chuka Umunna will be a personal aide to newly elected leader of the opposition Ed Miliband.
Mr Umunna, MP for Streatham, was appointed by Mr Miliband to be his parliamentary private secretary after the shadow cabinet was named earlier this month.
Dulwich and West Norwood MP Tessa Jowell was named as Shadow Minister for the Olympics.
In his role, Mr Umunna will attend shadow cabinet meetings and will be one of two personal aides to Mr Miliband, advising and acting as a contact point for backbench MPs.
He said he was “delighted and honoured to have been appointed”.
Mr Umunna will retain his role on the Treasury select committee, scrutinising Government economic policy and holding the Chancellor of the Exchequer and his ministerial team to account.
