Met Police cruised into the third round of the Championship Manager Cup, earning a home tie with Eastbourne Town on Wednesday, November 17.

Blues made a bright start but James Cotte had a goal ruled out for offside.

It took 31 minutes for Carsuals to have their first real opportunity when Matt Powell picked up a through ball but his shot, under pressure, went well over the bar.

The Blues made the breakthrough after 37 minutes. Jamel Carr’s great long cross found Neil Williams whose shot went just inside the far post.

Six minutes later the game was as good as over when Charlie Moxon’s cross was headed into the roof of the net by Matt Cefai.

The Blues were in control in the second half and had many chances to increase their lead only to be lacking a finishing touch.

A couple of substitutions seemed to revitalise Casuals but the Blues wrapped things up when James Cotte drove home 15 minutes from time.

In stoppage time, Casuals’ Danny Green broke free with only the keeper to beat but drove the ball wide of the near post.

Attendance: 107.

Met Police’s next four games: Oct 23 Hendon (at Wembley FC, FA Cup fourth qualifying round), 25 Kent Police (h, Police Sport UK Cup round one), 27 Sittingbourne (h), 30 Chatham Town (h).
