A Croydon pub has shut down after drugs, stolen booze and a stun gun were found in it.

The Star in Southbridge Road closed on Wednesday after burglary squad cops, along with the officers from the Territorial Support Group and officers from the Area Intelligence Unit moved in.

Cops raiding the pub found cases of vodka, believed to be stolen from a ram raid, along with class A drugs and a stun gun.

The pub was identified, along with six other residential properties, as being linked to recent burglaries.

Cops swooped on the pub during a dawn raid and found the stash of illegal liquor.

The landlady of the pub surrendered her license to the licensing team, therefore avoiding having to go to court.

A spokeswoman for Croydon Council said: “Croydon Council did not serve any closure order on the premises. After the raid on the venue, the licence holder surrendered the licence in writing, to the council’s licensing enforcement officer.”

Bob Dolce from the borough's Area Intelligence Unit said: “This is a great result for us. Croydon Police want burglars to get the message we will not tolerate any sort of crime in this borough especially theft.”

The raid was part of several carried out simaltaneously across Croydon on Wednesday morning.

During the raids cops uncovered an Aladdin's cave of phones, televisions, laptops, golf clubs £3,000 in cash and other valuable items stolen from properties in Croydon.
