The mother of Serena Beakhurst has said she is “one of the happiest women alive” after her daughter was finally found after going missing for three weeks.

The 14-year-old was found at an address in Wandsworth in the early hours of this morning and was reunited with her mother, Marlene Dennis, shortly afterwards.

Mrs Dennis said she would be formally thanking all the people who helped with a popular social media campaign on Facebook and Twitter, which included celebrity backing from the likes of Stephen Fry, Simon Pegg and Rio Ferdinand.

She said: “I’m still quite numb about the whole situation and it’s not sunk in. But I feel over the moon as you can well imagine. I’m one of the happiest women alive right now!

“Serena is sleeping now and she is knackered. She’s been through a lot recently and I’m just so glad she’s back now.”
