A 19-year-old reveller has died from serious head injuries suffered in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Michael Male died in hospital on January 3, two days after he was found with injuries to the back of his head near his home in Lower Addiscombe Road.

He was returning home at 4.35am after celebrating the New Year at a nightclub in Kingston when he was injured.

Police are treating the death as unexplained and are urging witnesses to come forward and help them with their investigations.

Detective Constable Brad Stow, from Croydon CID, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have been about in the area or passing on their way home and may have seen something to help us establish exactly what happened.

“The victim had been out at a club in Kingston and has been dropped off by taxi in Blackhorse Lane at the junction with Lower Addiscombe Road at around 4:35am.

“We’ve then been called at 5.00am and he’s been taken to hospital with head injuries so we want to find out what has happened in the time between him getting dropped off and the reports that he had collapsed in the street.”

Anyone who may have seen something or with information should contact Croydon CID on 020 8649 0258 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
