The lane closures which have plagued Wandsworth High Street in recent days could be gone tomorrow, according to Thames Water.
The busy stretch of the A3, heading westbound by Garratt Lane, was thrown into chaos on Tuesday when a water pipe burst.
Thames Water sent engineers to tackle the problem immediately but workers were forced to close two lanes, which have remained closed and caused slow moving traffic.
However, a Thames Water spokeswoman today said the old cast iron pipe had now been fixed and the road was now being returned to normal.
She said: “Hopefully tomorrow morning the road will be opened up again.”
The spokeswoman added bad weather could delay the final road repair process - and warned that burst pipes could be an ongoing problem as the utility giant’s underground network continues to be affected by the recent cold snap.
