Police have appealed for information after two brothers were stamped on and assaulted on a train.

One of the brothers later suffered serious face injuries when he was pushed onto a track in a separate assault on the same day.

CCTV of two men involved in the first attack between Weybridge and Woking stations on Saturday, November 6, has now been released.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers have also released another image of a man who they think may have vital information about the second.

Investigating officer PC Peter Cartright said the brothers were travelling on a train at about 9pm, when an argument began with two men.

He said: “An argument developed between the group; whereby both victims were assaulted and stamped on.

"Consequently one of the brothers was forced from the train at By Fleet and New Haw railway station by both men.

“Whilst the brothers were separated, one of them then became involved in an altercation with another man on the platform at Woking station.

"This suspect suddenly pushed him onto the tracks causing the victim to receive severe injuries to his face as he landed dangerously close to the third rail."

PC Peter Cartright said the incidents were not linked.

The first two men are tall with dark hair and were heard to speak with a New Zealand accent, one of these men was seen to have left the train at West by Fleet.

The other man was seen to alight at Woking station before boarding a Portsmouth-bound train on platform 5, accompanied by a woman.

The man who pushed one of the brothers onto the track was bald, wearing jeans, t-shirt and a hooded top.
