Police officers paid a visit to residents of a sheltered housing scheme to show them the importance of marking their valuables.

Graveney safer neighbourhoods team used special pens which are invisible to the naked eye to mark belongings in Palladino House, Tooting.

The residents also registered with the Immobilise scheme, which enters the details of valuables free of charge on to a central database.

This database - searchable by police - helps officers identify stolen property, arrest offenders and return the property to owners.
