Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a couple gunned down while laying in bed.

Jordan Jackson and Leyla Djemal-Northcott were both murdered in a flat in Upper Norwood in 2006.

Masked gunmen entered the flat at around 6.40am on March 7, 2006 and fired six shots, killing Mr Jackson and Miss Djemal-Northcott and injuring Mr Jackson's brother, Keiran Jordon.

Detectives believe that Leyla was an innocent bystander and was murdered, whilst she lay in bed, purely because she was in the flat with Jordan.

On Thursday a 35-year-old man from Kent was arrested on suspicion murder alongside two women, one aged 31 from Croydon and another, 37, from Clapham who were both arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Following new information, the police used a specialist diving team to search the Regent's Canal, as the murder weapon may have been thrown into the canal.

Despite not finding the weapon, more information has been gained, enabling them to make today's arrests.

The MPS is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for the murders and the attempted murder of Kieran Jackson.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Hutchison, from Trident said: "We want to thank those who have come forward with information so far.

"Although we are still seeking the murder weapon, due to the media coverage of the river search we had several calls with information relating to these murders.

"I continue to urge the public to come forward so that we can take this forward and solve this murder."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 020 8247 4553 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
