Crystal Palace moved four points clear of the Championship relegation zone with a crucial 1-0 win over Middlesbrough at Selhurst Park.
James Vaughan scored the crucial goal after 36 minutes when he latched on to Seb Hines' mistake and saw his shot deflected over Jason Steele by Jonathan Grounds.
Despite enjoying plenty of possession, Middlesbrough rarely troubled Julian Speroni, though Julio Arca did hit the post from distance early on and the keeper did have to save a snap shot from Leroy Lita.
Darren Ambrose was denied by Steele and Jermaine Easter hit the side netting as Palace clung on for the win that leaves them four games undefeated.
It also took their run of clean sheets at home to seven games and it is now more than 11 hours now since Speroni last conceded at Selhurst.
Heavy defeats for the teams below Palace, Sheffield United, Scunthorpe United and Preston North End, gives the Eagles a buffer to the drop zone.
