A community church has celebrated the opening of its new base in a Territorial Army building.
Deputy mayor Councillor Geoff Austin joined other dignitaries for the King’s Church’s ceremony at the headquarters in Portsmouth Road, Kingston, on Sunday, May 22.
The church holds community action days one Saturday each month, which have recently included weeding and planting at the Keep, off King’s Road in north Kingston.
The group also hold Satadad events on Saturdays to allow dads with children aged up to seven to meet other fathers.
Church elder Simon Virgo said: “It went really well, as well as we could have hoped. We managed to feed 200 people, which was a miracle in itself.
