International company, Kerry Foods, has donated £2,000 to the Langley Vale wing at Epsom General Hospital to fund new equipment for stroke patients.
A specialist Cirrus wheelchair, worth £2000, was bought with the donation along with a heart monitor and a support device used to transfer patients from bed to chair, funded by the Epsom Medical Equipment Fund.
The equipment was presented to staff at the Langley Vale wing on May 23.
Anne Lucas from Kerry Foods said: “Kerry Foods made this generous donation as we felt this would make a tremendous difference to stroke patients who will benefit enormously and after seeing the chair in action we knew we had made a good choice.”
Sarah Wilson-Owen, neuro occupational therapist for central Surrey Health, said: “We are extremely grateful for this incredibly versatile wheelchair which is already being extremely well used on the stroke unit.”
Bess Harding, fund co-ordinator for Epsom Medical Equipment Fund said: “We are amazed at what this wheel chair could achieve.
“It certainly is no ordinary wheelchair.”
