Residents in Surrey are being urged to put themselves forward as part of National Volunteer Week.

The scheme, which starts today, aims to raise awareness of volunteers’ achievements and inspire others to get involved.

Julia Gallagher, volunteering development manager of Voluntary Action Mid Surrey, said: "The great thing about volunteering is that there is generally a role available to suit everybody’s time commitments and interests.

"We hope this year's volunteers' week will spark a lot of interest, and whether people can spare an hour or two for a one-off event or one day a week, we'll be delighted to find them a satisfying and enjoyable role."

The Epsom Volunteer Centre will be at Ashtead Village Day on June 11 and at the Ashley Centre on June 28 between 9am and 4pm, to give advice on volunteering.

Or you can call into the Epsom volunteer centre in The Old Town Hall, Epsom between the hours of 10am and 1pm Monday to Friday.
