Two Battersea men have been arrested after a fatal shooting in Stockwell last night.
Officers arrested a 19-year-old shortly after the incident and a 21-year-old in Battersea this morning after a 24-year-old man was shot while in Clapham Road, near Stockwell underground station at 11.30pm.
They both remain in custody at south London police stations.
The man received gunshot wounds and was taken to a south London hospital but was pronounced dead at 12.30am this morning.
Police believe they know the identity of the victim but are awaiting formal identification. Next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem will take place in due course.
It is believed the victim was standing on the pavement directly outside Richardson Court when he was shot.
A dark-coloured motorcycle being rode by two men wearing dark clothing and helmets crossed Clapham Road from the direction of the Stockwell Gardens Estate.
Following the shooting, the motorcycle left at speed and was pursued by a marked police van into Binfield Road.
Detectives from Operation Trident are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Hutchison, said: "I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward and speak to the police.
"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the motorcycle travelling at high speed towards the Battersea area."
