B&Q Sutton’s new ‘You Can Do It’ DIY classes were launched by property guru Kirstie Allsopp on Tuesday.

The Location, Location, Location and Relocation Relocation star, joined a kids class which aims to introduce basic DIY skills to youngsters aged between seven and 11.

The Sutton store has one of nine new centres, forming part of B&Q’s pledge to help get the nation DIYing.

The special classrooms will host sessions on using basic tools, painting and decorating, plumbing, tiling and carrying out eco improvements to the home.

Seasonal classes for Spring and Summer are also on offer, teaching skills such as building decking or a shed, or fitting a garden tap.

Ms Allsopp said: “As research shows, many people just don’t have the skills they need to complete simply DIY jobs at home, but now is your chance to learn.

"Whether you need to paint your front room, mend that leaky tap in the bathroom or spruce up your bedroom with some new wallpaper- you will find a class for you at B&Q’s new You Can Do It Centres.”

Customers can sign up to a class now just by visiting www.diy.com/youcandoitclasses or by calling 0845 600 5428** and secure their place with a payment of £10 or £20 depending on the class content.

On completion of your class, customers will receive a B&Q voucher to use in store.
