Wandsworth residents are putting the finishing touches to preparations for this weekend's Big Lunch.

Fourteen roads will be closed for Saturday's street parties, with many others events expected to be held in local parks, schools, housing estates, pubs, bars, homes and gardens.

Now in its third year, the Big Lunch is a nationwide event aimed at strengthening local communities by encouraging groups of neighbours to organise street parties.

Wandsworth Council leader Councillor Ravi Govindia said: "After a truly spectacular array of parties on Royal Wedding day, the people of Wandsworth look set to do the borough proud again.

"We're lucky to have some strong and vibrant local communities in Wandsworth, and events like this help bring people even closer together. That's why we work so hard to make organising a street party as quick and easy as possible."

The following roads will be closed for the vast majority of the day: Clarendon Drive (Between Earldom Road and Erpingham Road), Fernside Road (Between Mayford Road and Chestnut Grove), Henderson Road (Outside Nos. 5 to 27), Huron Road (Outside Nos. 40 to 70), Keble Street (Outside Nos. 1 to 44), Lammermoor Road (Between Ravenswood Road and Hanson Close), Modder Place (Between Lacy Road and Quill Lane), Point Pleasant (Outside Nos. 10 to 88), Pulborough Road (Between Hambledon Road and Wincanton Road), Quill Lane (Between Cardinal Place and Chelverton Road), Ravenswood Road (Between Cavendish Road and Balham Hill), Rosenau Crescent (Between Prince of Wales Drive and Battersea Bridge Road), Salterford Road (Between Welham Road and Southcroft Road) and Stanbridge Road (Between Felsham Road and Lower Richmond Road)
