A bus caught fire in Wallington on Monday.
The 455 caught fire while travelling in Plough Lane at about 4.42pm.
It is understood the single-decker bus's engine caught fire, and diesel from the fuel tank ignited the back of the bus.
An eyewitness described how smoke was coming from the back of the bus, followed by flames and a few “mini explosions”.
Noone onboard was injured.
Eddy Aromire, who photographed the scene, said: “There were flames coming out of the back and suddenly it just went up.”
London Fire Brigade attended the incident and put out the fire.
Police closed roads and a diversion was put in place at the junction of Croydon Road and Plough Lane.
The road was reopened at about 7.20pm.
Police said the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
The 455 bus runs between Canon's Hill and Wallington.
