Charity music event Big Band in Nonsuch Park is experiencing record ticket sales.

BBC Big Band guest conductor Jay Craig, will again be bringing his star-studded orchestra and vocalists to the park on June 24.

More than 250 tickets for the event have already been sold, with still just under a month to go until the big night.

Organiser, rotarian David Hagger, said: “We've had unprecedented interest and sales up to this point. Everything is set for it to be a hugely successful event once again."

He confirmed the organisations to benefit from the rotary's share of proceeds this year will be The Forces Children's Trust, which supports children who have lost a parent serving in the armed forces, and the Macmillan Butterfly Centre at Epsom Hospital and its linked centre at St Helier which support cancer sufferers.

The event starts for picnickers from 5.45pm on June 24, with the music from 7.15pm until 10pm.
