A fire has broken out in pensioners’ flats in Sutton town centre.
One person was treated at the scene after suffering from smoke inhalation during the blaze at Crownbourne Court sheltered housing, St Nicholas Way.
Fire engines, police and ambulance crews are at the scene of the fire which started at 2.30pm but the fire has been put under control.
35 people were evacuated from the building.
It is understood the blaze started after a cigarette was discarded in a litter bin.
