A housing association is hoping to raise more than £1,000 for the vital work of the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust.

Eleven members of staff from Amicus Horizon took part in a sponsored walk where they handed out leaflets and spoke to Croydon residents about the vital work of the ACLT which is dedicated to finding lifesaving bone marrow and blood donors from ethnic minority communities.

Lisa Allen, Housing Officer, who organised the walk said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the ACLT charity by doing the walk. We’ve handed out leaflets, spoke to so many people and had great fun.”

“It’s been a fantastic walk with brilliant weather,” said Alma Haq Resident Involvement Manager. “We’ve really enjoyed raising funds and awareness of the great work that ACLT do”.

ACLT co-founder Beverley De-Gale said “In our joint efforts we’ll benefit patients and families of patients diagnosed with leukaemia and all blood related cancers or diseases, those in need of life saving blood transfusions and organ transplants.

"The vital funds raised by AmicusHorizon will assist our work and will ultimately helps us in recruiting life saving donors, collectively we will save many lives. Thank you.”

Miss Haq said they were still collecting funds but hoped to raise more than £1,000.
