The protestor accused of attacking Rupert Murdoch with a shaving foam pie is facing a public backlash over his actions.

Jonathan May-Bowles, 26, was arrested after throwing a plate of shaving foam at the News International boss as he gave evidence to MPs.

Mr May-Bowles, who lives in Croydon but hails from Windsor, also goes by the name Jonnie Marbles and runs the blog "Anarch*ish*."

Minutes before attacking Mr Murdoch, Mr May-Bowles tweeted: "It is a far better thing that I do now than I have ever done before #splat."

But the self-described "writer, comedian, activist and blogger" has been condemned for the attack, under a video he posted of himself on YouTube.

'CanalStairAce' wrote: "Cheers for trying to make today's agenda all about you," while another user 'thealmightycraig' said: "you managed to make Rupert Murdoch look like a victim, congratulations."

A Georgia Lewis said: "Jonnie Marbles, the Murdochs were doing a perfectly good job of discrediting themselves before you stepped in. Grow up, you sad little boy," and 'TheNikfantastic' commented: "He has now given the Murdochs the chance to refuse to be recalled to Parliament to answer further questions- dimwit."

Explaining his actions Mr May-Bowles, a founder of UK Uncut, an anti-tax cut activist group, told Sky News: "Beyond the fact that this was not a UK Unncut action, I guess I did it because I had no faith in the Parliamentary process & wanted to see some kind of justice done."
