Two teenagers have been arrested in Epsom under suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.

Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) Paul Thomas and Simon Tillman were carrying out their regular patrols on July 6 when a resident of Depot Road became concerned about suspicious activity outside Phoenix Court.

Officers arrived at the scene at about 6.45pm where they found a bag concealed within a wall cavity which contained up to 50 individual wraps of a substance believed to be heroin or crack cocaine.

A 16-year-old boy from London and a 17-year-old boy from Thornton Heath were arrested nearby.

Neighbourhood inspector Craig Knight said: "This was a fantastic response by local Safer Neighbourhood Officers which resulted in approximately 50 wraps of a substance, believed to be class A drugs, being removed from our streets.

"The PCSOs were supported by officers who affected the arrest of two teenagers.

"Our response really does prove just how crucial information from the community is if we are going to stand a chance of combating suspected illegal drugs in our neighbourhoods.

"We say time and time again how important information from the community is and had we not received that report of suspicious activity we would not have recovered the suspected drugs.

"Help us keep your community a safe and nice place to live, work and visit by reporting your concerns to us."

The teenagers have been released on police bail until September 2 pending further enquiries.
