Firefighters were called to four car fires in Tulse Hill during the early hours of this morning.

A team of five firefighters from West Norwood fire station fought the blazes for more than an hour between 1.30am 2.40am.

Police officers from Lambeth police, who were also called to the scene, said one car was almost completely burned out, causing damage to a nearby vehicle.

The arson attacks in Claverdale Road and Churston Close are thought to be connected.

In another incident last night, firefighters from the same station were called when two bins were set alight on Christchurch Road and Hardel Rise in Streatham Hill.

Detective Inspector Barry Smith of Lambeth police CID said: "I would urge anyone with information to come forward. The London Fire Brigade has advised us that the last fire in particular, if left unattended could have spread to the nearby houses."

Anyone with information should call Lambeth CID on 02086492167.
