A pub landlord wants volunteers to join him on a charity expedition to win back his world record title for the world's highest gig.

Oz Bayldon, manager of The White Lion pub, Streatham High Road, plans to scale the dizzying heights of Nepal's Mount Mera in October.

He needs three more people to complete his 10-man team, which will venture up the 6,475m peak. He also wants more volunteers to be in the audience for the record attempt.

He said: "It would be fantastic if people could get involved. It is only a trek; there is only a little bit of mountaineering."

Mr Bayldon previously broke the record in 2005 for the world's highest gig with his band 'The Hidden'- a five piece collective from Balham.

The musicians played a 40-minute set to around 100 people after reaching the peak of Kala Pattar on Mount Everest.

A German band have since broken the record - performing tunes at 6,000m on a mountain peak in Bolivia. But Mr Bayldon is desperate to win back his title.

He said: "Someone beat me. It is my world record; I started it and I want to finish it. We will go to a height that no one will be able to beat."

Local businesses are being invited to sponsor the expedition, which is raising money for the pub manager's charity Music4Children.

The charity helped build an orphanage in Dhulikhel, Nepal, after the first world record attempt.

More than £6,000 has since been donated to complete the interior of the building, and set up community programmes.

World record participants will have the opportunity to visit the orphanage before the trek begins.
