Sutton has its first eco-congregation.
Springfield Church in Wallington has been praised for its work on ecology issues and becomes only the second church in the Diocese of Southwark to receive the award.
The church, which also has fairtrade status, has lead a sermon series on caring for the environment as well as offering tips to the congregation on how to save energy.
Reverend Will Cookson said: "We are delighted to receive the award , we hold the care of the environment to be an important part of our Christian faith."
