More building work could be on its way to the All England Club, which is considering a retractable roof for its second largest court.
Wimbledon's home of tennis installed a roof over Centre Court in 2009 - allowing night matches and giving stars the chance to play through storms and downpours.
Now the club has given the clearest signal yet that it wants a similar roof over Number One Court, which has 11,500 seats and was built in 1997.
Last week chairman Phillip Brook told a group of tennis writers: "It would give a second court for broadcasting live tennis, a second group of happy customers, and more certainty about completing the tournament if you get bad weather in the second week.”
Although there is no definite plan to build a roof, Mr Brook said it "had to be part of the club's thinking" in the years ahead.
