An elderly woman is still unaccounted for after a serious blaze in sheltered accommodation.
Emergency services evacuated the building of its 40 residents, after Gibson Court in Manor Road North, Hinchley Wood, caught fire in the early hours of this morning.
The home was badly damaged by flames that tore through the building’s roof.
The cause of the fire will be investigated, but for now the focus is on locating the missing woman.
Dave Edwards, who lives in the road, said: “It was an inferno. We were scared they hadn’t got everyone out.”
