A former Olympic cycling track is set to receive an extra funding boost as part of efforts to renovate it.
The Herne Hill Velodrome, which was used in the 1948 London Olympics, has been earmarked for a further £400,000 of funding from Southwark Council.
The track is one of 10 projects to share £2million from Southwark’s Capital Legacy Grant, following a £500,000 makeover by British Cycling.
Developers plan to use the money to create better training facilities, as well as more bicycle storage space, changing rooms and a café.
Veronica Ward, cabinet member for leisure and sport at Southwark Council, said she was "delighted" with the new projects.
She said: "We had some great submissions and it was very difficult to decide the final ten but we have chosen projects which we believe will benefit people across the borough, regardless of age or level of fitness.
"We are committed to getting more people involved in sport in Southwark and hope these projects will help create a lasting legacy from the Olympic and Paralympic Games."
