Construction has begun on Chelsea footballer John Terry’s new lavish Oxshott mansion.

When building is complete in Queens Drive, the England captain’s home will boast an impressive nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms and eight dressing rooms.

As if that’s not enough, Terry and his wife Toni can keep their reams of designer clothing in his and her dressing rooms, or one of the other six.

Keeping fit will not be a problem, with the 10m x 5m indoor pool, which comes complete with a jacuzzi, steam room and changing facilities.

If Terry fancies a bit of time on his own after a stressful match, he has plenty of choice on the ground floor, which has a massive 19 rooms, including a cinema room and snug.

Staff are also catered for in an accommodation wing, and when Terry has people to visit, they can sleep in an annexe in the opposite wing.

Parking should not be an issue, with seven spaces put aside in the plans, as well as a disabled space.

A source involved with the building said: “I’ve done a lot of footballers’ houses, but this is a big one. It’s one of the biggest I’ve ever worked on.

“I reckon you’re looking at about 18 months until it’s ready and he can actually walk through the door. But once it's done, it will be beautiful.”

Terry had previously applied for planning permission to build on another house in the same street.

Beverley Tourle objected on behalf of Birds Hill Oxshott Estate, on the grounds that Willowfield House would have a negative impact on the area.

Properties on Queens Drive go for an average of £4m, according to property website Zoopla.

Oxshott, which is very close to Chelsea’s training ground in Stoke D’Abernon, is one of the country’s top addresses for footballers, with Wayne Bridge, Fernando Torres, Scott Parker and Ashley Cole all choosing to settle there.
